  • Surface Catalysis for Energy (SurfCat)

The Surface Catalysis for Energy (SurfCat) program is developing new catalytic materials and processes to enable high-efficiency alternative energy sources compatible with military logistic fuels

The Surface Catalysis for Energy (SurfCat) program is developing new catalytic materials and processes to enable high-efficiency alternative energy sources compatible with military logistic fuels. With advanced modeling, improved understanding of nanoscale catalytic processes, and improved materials synthesis techniques potential exists for major improvements in efficiency and selectivity of many catalytically driven chemical processes.  SurfCat seeks to exploit those improvements for advanced fuel cell chemistries, revolutionary biomass-to-fuel conversion processes, and new photocatalysts for carbon dioxide reduction.
